Meet our new Head of Accounting – North America!
Accountants play a vital role in helping businesses build strong internal controls across accounts payable and receivable. Here at ApprovalMax, we’re dedicated to supporting our accounting partners in all regions to make the most of our tool with their clients. We’re excited to announce Helina Patience is the latest to join our partner leadership team as Head of Accounting – North America to support the work we do there!
“At ApprovalMax, our customers span the globe and each tackle the unique challenges of business, tax, and other accounting needs in their part of the world,” says Matt Lowry, Chief Revenue Officer at ApprovalMax. “We’re thrilled to have Helina on board as Head of Accounting to share her expertise and insights with our wonderful partner community in North America.”
Expanding the team
As someone who is lit up by big ideas and innovation, Helina brings this passion to her small business clients to help them take advantage of technology. She draws on extensive accounting industry experience as well as her atypical background, which saw her do everything from teaching English abroad and working as theatre artist, to HR and financial analyst roles.
Eventually, Helina came to accounting to make a difference in the world and support small businesses, who she sees as the site of innovation. She now manages a team of 23 at Entreflow, the cloud based accounting firm where she is CEO.
There, Helina sees first-hand the powerful role of internal financial controls. “Nowadays, phishing and external fraud are so commonplace that it is no wonder that cyber security premiums have skyrocketed. Internal controls are the only true safeguard to these events,” she says.
“At Entreflow, we have many structures in place to segregate duties and ensure controls, not only to protect our company, but our client’s too. For small businesses, cashflow is often a challenge and certainly something to conserve, monitor and protect. Controls ensure effective use and safeguarding of cash.”
As part of our partner leadership team, Helina looks forward to helping strengthen controls for organizations and the accountants and bookkeepers who support them. “The team at ApprovalMax are inspired by what they are collectively doing to improve financial controls. They are innovators and problem solvers who really care about their customers and about building a unique and satisfying product. I want to be a part of that journey.”
